I used Storybird to create my story. I'm not the most creative writer, but Storybird was easy to use since you choose 1 picture and then it gives you all of the pictures that go along with the story. I thought the alphabet letters were cute but I'm not quite sure how the first picture of the girl and her mother fits into the story. Oh, Well we made it work. Using Storybird, in kindergarten would have to be a shared writing lesson. I think the kids would really get into telling a story by looking at the pictures. It would also be fun to create a 3D book with Zooburst.
The Great Alphabet Escape
Wow!! Love your alphabet story! Very creative and fun. I agree, this would be fun for whole group writing. Sometimes I really have to work with kids who are capable on writing more/writing 2 sentences. I think these fun illustrations would be helpful. My girls have used storybird at home too. My brother recommended it to us. Last year, Bella dictated her text to Ellie and they had fun with that. Could perhaps be something to use with a buddy class too. Or maybe something kids could do at home... either typing their own text or dictating it (differentiated!) Good work!!
ReplyDeleteI found and used the same clip art! It's sooo cute, but I'm not sure how some of the other art is??? Some of it looked a bit strange:) Nice Storybird!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the shared writing idea, I can see how you could map out a rough storyboard and then model filling in the text for the kids, allowing them to gradually take ownership of the work while in progress, very "I do we do you do". I also noticed some random pictures, some of which were a bit strange, in some of the artwork sets. I would want to look through the sets thoroughly before setting the students off on any independent work! Something to keep an eye on anyway, but great story, you're a plenty creative writer!
ReplyDeleteCute! Beautiful story! I think your students would enjoy it!
