Polling and Gathering Data

After visiting the Minnesota Zoo today, I decided to create a poll to find out what zoo animal is the most popular.  Creating the poll was quick and easy.  I'm not quite sure how I will use polleverywhere with my kindergarten students.  Maybe I could have a poll on my blog/website for my students families to respond to and then we can use the poll for a class discussion or lesson on reading information on graphs. Can't wait to see what animal is the most popular. I created a google form to ask my parents what Open House session they plan on attending. This will help me prepare for the correct number of parents. Mid-year, I usually send out an survey for parents to let me know how the year is going. The questions are regarding homework, activities, and communication. This year, I will create the survey in the google forms and see how that goes.

  1. I agree it could be hard to use with kindergarteners, but I like the idea to have it on your website for families to respond to. Students would love sharing how they responded and it would be a great kick off for the beginning for a new topic.

  2. I also agree, this is a tricky one to use with kindergarten kiddos. I think parents might find it novel... I'd like to find out if you can gather multiple responses from one computer or iPad. Then you could have kids respond in class with support.

  3. Wow that is awesome, it just pops right up there even on the embedded link. But you should have put the Amur leopard as an option, now that's a beautiful cat!! But I suppose I can settle for the Amur Tiger. Yes this could be a great tool to put on your website to poll families just for fun, or to gauge interest on unit topics or field trip preferences, etc. It would be nice to find a more kid-friendly version though, I like Beth's idea, it would be great if we could do it all from one iPad. There must be a good way to do so, maybe Doodle?

  4. A good start to activity 8, but I also need you to create a google form and reflect on how you might use it.
